Why should APFI members search travel and vacation choices on this site? Because this travel booking site is powered by ROVIA. Most travel websites like Travelocity, Expedia, American Express only search ONE of the three US Global Distribution Systems (GDS). For example, Travelocity is owned by one of the 3 GDS’s - so most searches on this website will only pull from the inventory of the parent GDS and EXCLUDE other available inventory.
In fact, I’m told by more than a few APFI members that this travel search engine (ROVIA) is the only
place where Southwest Airlines will come up — other than the Southwest Airlines own site. You won’t
find Southwest’s fares on Travelocity, Orbitz or Expedia, etc!
ROVIA searches ALL THREE of the GDS’s at the same time and returns many more options and choices. An independent study done by Topaz, showed that ROVIA produced lower booking prices for the same vacation, cruise, flight, etc. 68% of the time vs. Travelocity and Expedia.
